The Opportunity

The Department of Post Secondary Education, Training and Labour was looking for a partner to help tell an important story – we need more New Brunswickers to fill jobs and seize economic opportunities in our province. Portfolio was mandated to help PETL dispel myths around immigration and evolve public perception around the importance of recruiting and welcoming skilled workers and economic immigrants to New Brunswick. 

 
 

 

The Solution

Portfolio understood that this project needed to evoke an emotional connection through a multi-phased approach. First, starting with educating New Brunswickers about our current situation, we worked to communicate why we need economic immigrants and how they can help address our province’s aging and shrinking population. 

Portfolio began with telling the right story to the people that need to hear it – key messages, thought-provoking creative writing, and powerful photography that drives home the message. In one week, we launched a bilingual microsite, along with a social media campaign and other traditional marketing collateral in order to start the conversation with New Brunswickers and employers.  

 

 

The Results

The message and story are being well accepted by the multicultural communities and key partners.  The social media campaign has generated shares and is helping to create dialogue and questions – all part of changing attitudes of New Brunswickers. Phase 2 will be launched in the fall of 2017 and will be targeted at helping more employers incorporate skilled immigrants to offset some of their labour challenges. 

 
This project aimed to create awareness around the benefits of immigration for our province and the importance of welcoming them. Portfolio was successfully able to develop the digestible public messaging and deliver the images that helped to educate, communicate and tell the whole story. Portfolio thoroughly understood these complicated messages and brought it together to create a great end product. They delivered this high-quality product in a very short period of time and they are great people to work with.
