The Opportunity

Dieppe has undergone a tremendous transformation and has realized phenomenal population and business growth in the past 40 years, making it a vibrant and prosperous city.

Dieppe’s Centennial Arena opened its doors in 1967 and now the structural problems have forced the city to close it. GoDieppe! was formed with the objective of conducting a major fundraising campaign, valued at 4.5M$, to replace the Centennial arena with an Intergenerational Community Complex. 

In addition to the branding and marketing communications strategy development, Portfolio was mandated to conceptualize, communicate and execute the launch of the campaign. 



The Solution

After Portfolio developed the branding and marketing communications strategy, we needed to create a movement around the campaign that was driven by and for residents. We knew that we needed to communicate that this signature complex is more than replacing the aging infrastructure of the Centennial Arena, giving the community a revived gathering place centred on health, wellness and physical activity in Dieppe – something the community could get behind.  

We executed our own marketing communications strategy for campaign launch that aimed to maximize the positive effect on Dieppe residents, media, and stakeholders in general – and it came to fruition seamlessly. The physical campaign launch which took place at the current Centennial arena welcomed over 100 visitors, including community champions, and all generations of community members who witnessed the revealing. Portfolio was in charge of all media relations, media training, and social media management during and the launch.  



The Results

The campaign launch of the Intergenerational Community Complex by GoDieppe! was featured on news outlets like CTV Atlantic, the front page of Times and Transcript, Radio-Canada (both TV and radio), Global TV, Acadie-Nouvelle, L’Étoile, and has reached over 4,600 views on the live video stream of the event. 

The successful public campaign launch goes hand in hand with the success of the major fundraising campaign as it is well on its way to achieve, even surpass, the 4.5M$ goal. The communications department of the city and GoDieppe! was very pleased with the outcome and the work of Portfolio and we continue to work closely with the team today.
